Jane's Talk: How Buffalo Gave Wings to the World

  • Eugene V. Debs Hall 483 Peckham Street Buffalo, NY, 14206 United States (map)

Please join us at Eugene V. Debs Hall for Jane’s Talk: How Buffalo Gave Wings to the World, on Tuesday, May 21, 6 pm, in which we will explore two seemingly unrelated topics: the true origins of the Buffalo wing and the birth of Buffalo's—and America's—aviation industry.

We're proud to host three speakers for this event: Marc Moscato of Buffalo Bike Tours, Lina-Brown Young of John Young's Original Mumbo Sauce, and Chuck Banas, local urbanist and aviation history expert.

We'll learn about the contested claims about the invention of the Buffalo wing, and learn more about the people and places that represent Buffalo's largest ever industry: aircraft manufacturing. Plus, we'll be able to sample Lina's acclaimed mumbo wings, which will be out at 6 pm sharp.

Doors open at 6 pm, with presentations beginning at 7 pm. Jane's Talk, modeled after the international Jane's Walk in honor of urbanist Jane Jacobs, is our ongoing speaker series on topics related to cities and the human habitat.
